PROFILE

Haydn Hughes graduated from the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School in 1988 where he was a student athlete. He competed in track for the island including at the 1990 CARIFTA games in Jamaica.

He spent 22 years in the private sector including some 20 years as a business owner. He first contested as a candidate for the Anguilla United Movement (AUM) in 2005.

He was the first ever Anguillian recipient of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association scholarship that afforded him an opportunity to study at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland. He served as a member of the Executive Board of Cap Juluca where he oversaw a number of departments including Villa Operations, Beach and Watersports, Landscaping and Security.

He has worked in his community for over twenty five (25) years and is an avid song writer and philanthropist and is presently the Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for Tourism and Sports. He is passionate about young people, the arts, entertainment and sports as a vehicle to create opportunity for his people and island.
He is contesting the upcoming general election as a candidate for the AUM in District 6.
