Othlyn Vanterpool is the incumbent Representative for District 1, Island Harbour, in the House of Assembly for 2010 – 2015. A leader in the community long before entering politics, he was Commissioner of Scouts for many years. Widely trained and experienced in social work, fisheries, marine resources management, and youth development.
Vanterpool was born and grew up in Welches. He attended the East End Primary School then the Valley Secondary School. A life learner, he attended the Common Wealth Youth Training Centre, Guyana, Social Welfare Training Centre UWI Jamaica and the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Development, Newfound Land Canada. Vanterpool has worked at the Department of Social Development and The Fisheries and Marine Resources Department.
Vanterpool is proud to have led the charge to refurbish the library and Computer lab at the Vivenne Vanterpool School (Island Harbour School). He is leading the Cultural Revolution in the Eastern part of the island with the increasingly popular Festival Del mar and the Welches Village Fest.
Vanterpool is committed to the improvement of the Fishing Industry, Agriculture, Youth, and Sports development.
Vanterpool lives in Island Harbour. He enjoys crop and livestock farming. |
