Dean Jonas was born in this constituency and grew up in Jonas Village; in Potters
just across the street from the old GEM cinema. He flew kites, pitched
marbles and played cricket on almost every playground in Potters. He
have deep roots all across St. George’s. I am a member of the Jonas
family from Freemans Village, Potters, Pigotts and Barnes Hill with
hundreds of cousins and close family relatives residing though out the
St George’s community. His father, the late Colin (Willie) Jonas as well
as my Aunt Eleese Jonas and Uncles Davenport (Davie) Jonas, Foster
Jonas, Nathaniel (Broths) Jonas are all from the Pigotts community.
His mother Irene (Smith) Jonas worked as a teacher at the Judges Hill
School and lived in the Barnes Hill community for many years. Dean is
married to Anne Jonas and together we have a daughter, Christiane
(17) and a son, Dean (11).
Education and Career
Dean first attended the Judges Hill School and then the Potters Government
School. His secondary and tertiary education led me to a career in
Telecommunications. In his professional work over the past 20 years
he has held various jobs, at the technical and management levels,
developing the telecommunications industry in Antigua & Barbuda,
and across the Eastern Caribbean. |
