Colin "Counselor" Derrick was born on 23rd November 1957 in Redruth, Cornwall, England. He attended the Foundation Mixed Primary School and the St. Joseph's Academy. He has obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and a Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple Inn) and is now a lawyer by profession.

Colin Derrick is one of the founding members of the United Progressive Party.

He is now the Vice-chairman of the UPP and the party's candidate for the St. John's City West constituency. He is a member of the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association, The Antigua and Barbuda Bar Association, the Spring Gardens Moravian Church and the Harmonites International Steel Orchestra.

He is the father of two; Zara and Kareem Derrick. He is ready, willing and able to bring the right type of representation to the St. John's City West constituency.
