
General elections were held in Aruba on 23 September 2005. The elections were the sixth to be held for membership of the Estates since autonomy was granted by the Dutch in 1986.
Electoral System
The 21 members of theunicameral Estates were elected by open list proportional representation in a single nationwide constituency.
Political Parties
A total of nine parties contested the election.
Results
The result was a victory for the ruling People's Electoral Movement (MEP), which won 11 of the 21 seats in the Estates.
Voter Turnout
Voter turnout was 85.74%. |
