Colin Spencer was born
and raised in Salters, St. George, in the heart of his
constituency. He has always been attracted to politics
and has decided to stand in St. George North as a means of helping people, regardless of their political
affiliation. He objects very strongly to patchy
development and exclusion. His knowledge of the
constituency enables him to highlight the following issues
that need urgent attention:
- The poor state of minor roads
- Disenchanted young people who gravitate
to the blocks
- A breakdown in the relationship between
the generations
- The impact of housing development in
areas such as Redland, Golden Ridge and Ashbury
He believes that too many people have lost
faith in politicians and politics, and he is anxious to help
clean up their image and return the country to the path of
honest, sustainable and equitable development.
Colin Spencer values highly the spirit of
self-reliance and community support for which Barbados was
once famous. He believes that the role of government is
to create the conditions for enterprising people to acquire
skills, seize opportunities and capitalize on them. He
is proud of his ability to carve out a career in the field of
entertainment. He has been a successful, professional
musician/entertainer for 34 years.
Colin believes that since tourism is our
major industry, more Barbadians should consider it their
business. He therefore wants to promote cultural tourism
and sports tourism. Towards this end he is the Vice
President and Co-ordinator of the Sheffield Sports Club, in
Lower Estate.
Colin Spencer believes that it takes a
community to raise a child. We should always put
children first because they are literally our future. He
believes that the great strength of his constituency is its
community spirit and its capacity to embrace all those
currently marginalized from the mainstream of society.
He is ready and willing to get on with the job of representing
this constituency properly. |
