Kenneth Best lives in
St. Michael and knows his constituency like the back of his
hand. He is most concerned about the high levels of
unemployment that plague the young people of the St.
Michael East constituency. He
would like to see the establishment of skill banks within the
constituency as a means of decreasing underemployment, solving
a number of the problems within the community and moving youth
away from a burgeoning drug culture.
He is also dismayed at what he sees when he
ventures off the tourist route. He feels that too many
citizens of Barbados have to put up with bad roads, poor
housing and squalid conditions. He is convinced that
Barbados can do better to improve the quality of life of city
dwellers. All that is lacking is the political will to
distribute resources more equitably.
Kenneth Best is a graduate of the Federal and
the Modern High Schools, and the Barbados Community
College. He then worked as an Agricultural Assistant and
a Policeman before studying Law at London Guildhall
University. He currently practices general law, and
specializes in personal injuries, land matters and business
law.
Kenneth Best is also an entrepreneur.
He believes that Barbados' future depends on people being able
to spot business opportunities and capitalizing on them.
He has been involved in the provision of public transport for
nearly ten years. Hence he would like to see agencies
established for training route taxi drivers and conductors in
anger management and customer service.
Kenneth Best has a passion for sports and is
currently President of the Yorkshire Sports Club. In
this capacity he reaches out to young people and tries to wean
them off the block and bring them back into the mainstream.
Kenneth is married to Thelma Best and they
have 5 children. |
