Michael Andrew Lashley
is a proud resident of St. Philip who wants to see Barbados
develop into a society in which resources are more equitably
distributed. He believes that the role of Government is
to intervene on behalf of the disadvantaged members of society
and wipe out the remaining pockets of poverty and
neglect. He highlights the following areas that need
urgent attention:
- Bad roads, especially those off the
tourist routes
- High levels of unemployment, which do not
show up in Government's statistics
- Inadequate sporting facilities for young
people
- The high price of land and housing
Michael Lashley was elected to represent St.
Philip North in the last elections and to address these
issues. He looks forward to doing so more effectively
when the DLP Government is returned to power in the coming
elections.
Michael Lashley was educated at the Barbados
Community College, the University of the West Indies and the
Sir Hugh Wooding Law School. He brings to politics the
knowledge, expertise and experience of a well-trained
lawyer. He defends his clients with a passion that
reveals great respect for people and for the
law.
Michael is fully involved in the life of his
community. His love for ordinary people and his
leadership skills have found expression in his being the
co-founder of the St. Philip's Carnival Committee, the Public
Relations Officer of Coles Neighbourhood Watch, and the
founder of Love Thy Neighbour Group. Every year he gives
books to the Primary Schools in his constituency.
Michael is convinced that Barbados can do
better. He is therefore committed to completing the
social revolution started by the Democratic Labour Party in
the 1960's. |
