   The Political Partiesline
Barbados historically has been dominated by two parties - the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and the Democratic Labour Party (DLP). Each party nominates one candidate for each constituency. Independent candidates may also stand for elections. Another two parties are contesting the 2008 elections - The People's Democratic Congress (PDC) and the People's Empowerment Party (PEP).
