Information and Communications Technology

In an age where economic systems and entire societies are being shaped more and more by technological factors, the BLP will implement its science and technology plan.

We will:

  • Commit 1.5% of GDP to research and development in Science and Technology.
  • Re-fashion the National Council for Science and Technology to make it the premier national institution in the area of Science and Technology conducting research in a number of areas critical to national development, including renewable energy sources; genetic improvement of crops and farm animals and efficient use of water resources and the conversion of sea water to fresh water.
  • Encourage study and research in science and technology;
  • Enact legislation to give greater certainty to Science and Technology activities.
  • Fund research in Information and Communications Technology at institutions such as the Community College (University College of Barbados).
