BASSETERR, St. Kitts and Nevis, 6 February 2015 (CMC, WINN) – Friday 6 February 2015 was Nomination Day in St. Kitts and Nevis for the 16 February 2015 general election. As nominations closed Friday, 22 candidates have been nominated to contest the 2015 general election.
The ruling St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) fielded eight candidates to the People’s Action Movement’s (PAM) six, while the People’s Labour Party (PLP) nominated two. On the island of Nevis, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) each put three candidates forward.
The ruling party, led by Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and his seven candidates, held two large rallies for supporters on nomination day. Dr. Douglas, 62, is currently serving his fourth term as Prime Minister of the twin island federation.

In the 2010 general elections, the SKNLP won six of the eight seats on St. Kitts, while the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) won two of the three seats on Nevis. The Nevis reformation Party (NRP) which enjoys a close working relationship with the SKNLP won the other seat.
The Federal Parliament in St. Kitts and Nevis also includes three appointed members and the Attorney General as an ex-officio member.
