Alleyne Walker is a true son of the soil and the farmers’ best friend. He is one of the longest serving Parliamentarians. He was born and bred in St. Andrew’s and knows his people well. He appreciates the value that his constituents attach to the land; and the wealth that lies within the soil. He has fought and won many battles over the land rights of his constituents. No matter under what banner he fights the election, the people of St. Andrew know that he will defend their interests with all his energy.
Alleyne Walker has a winning formula. It is basically to listen to his constituents and to be their eyes and their ears in high places. In recent years they have been complaining of:
- High levels of underemployment and unemployment, made worse by the neglect of agriculture
- Widespread poverty with a rising cost of living
- The traffic in and abuse of drugs
- Gang violence
- Teenage pregnancy
He therefore wants to be in a winning National Democratic Congress (NDC) team to make a positive contribution to the upliftment of St. Andrew and the rest of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. He was attracted to the NDC by its high moral stance and its commitment to empowering the people of this country. He is proud to be a member of a caring, committed and competent team of change agents. Above all he values the Party’s commitment to good governance.
Alleyne received a solid educational base at the St. Andrew Anglican Secondary School and further training with Geest Industries and the Government of Grenada. After a spell working for them, he returned to the love of his life, farming.
As a father, he understands the challenges that young people face. One of his objectives is to see more young people involved in the mainstream of society and receiving education and training to be nation builders. He wants to see more of them returning to the land using modern technology. Alleyne is also concerned about the problems that confront senior citizens. Another of his objectives is therefore to make better provision for them to enjoy the golden years of their lives. He is convinced that a gentler and more caring NDC government will take care of all its citizens. |
