Karl Hood is a religious leader, a man of vision, who wants to see Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, become again a country of which its citizens can be proud. For too many years he has listened to his flock at home and abroad complaining of the image of Grenada which has been sullied by a leader and a Party who have one objective in mind – to get rich quick by any means possible. He believes that the New National Party has introduced a culture of corruption and dependence that is destroying the traditional values of Grenada. It is therefore with righteous indignation that he has taken on the mantle of elective politics to help clean up Grenada and usher in real progress for the people.

Karl Hood was born in Happy Hill, St. George’s and has remained faithful to the city of his birth. He received his secondary education at Presentation Boys College and his tertiary education at the West Indies School of Theology, Nyack College, and Newport University. Pastor Hood is a trained Optician and a Minister of Religion. He holds a Master’s Degree in leadership and is preparing to receive his doctorate.

Karl Hood brings to politics a disciplined approach and a great love and compassion for people. He sees politics as the means of creating legislation and formulating policies to enrich the lives of ordinary people. Having seen the performance of this NNP administration, and feeling the pulse of the people, he feels a sense of hopelessness, which may lead to civil disturbances. He wants to bring back to Grenada a sense of worth and morality. He endorses the culture of the NDC whereby leaders have a social conscience, and even though they walk with kings, they maintain the common touch.

He laments the fact that while the NNP is boasting of progress, the people of his constituency and throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique are complaining of:

• The lack of proper representation
• Lies and deception by the administration
• The improper use of community centres
• Unemployment, drugs and violence
• Failure of government to develop the available human resources.

He believes that true progress comes with the development of people not patronage.

The people have told this man of God that they are tired and ashamed of the rampant culture of corruption, disregard for the nation’s institutions and the reckless wastage of the nation’s resources. They have had enough. He is therefore now ready to lead a crusade against corruption, poverty and injustice.

Karl Hood is married to Hermione and has two children, Karla and Hervin.
