Tillman Thomas was born in Hermitage, St. Patrick and is the proud Parliamentary Representative for this constituency. He listens well to the sufferings of his constituents who complain of the neglect of the agricultural sector, the high levels of unemployment and limited access to education and training for the growth industries. These issues are repeated by thousands of ordinary Grenadians as he moves around the country interacting with his people.

Tillman Thomas values education highly as the best ladder out of poverty and ignorance. Despite the fact that he had no Secondary education, he did courses to access tertiary education at Fordham University in New York and the University of the West Indies, where he qualified as an Attorney-at-Law. As Prime Minister of Grenada, education for ALL will be his number one priority.

Mr. Thomas believes that every Grenadian has the right to employment. He knows that in a cash economy, every adult must have a source of income, or succumb to the temptation to engage in anti-social behaviour. Escalating youth violence is a consequence of poor education and unemployment. Therefore, under his watch, every citizen of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique will receive assistance to find or create REAL jobs.

Tillman Thomas believes that progress in Grenada has been retarded by hypocrisy, victimization, division and distrust. Some unfortunate aspects of the past still haunt the land. The time has come to go beyond the rhetoric, to accept that every patriotic Grenadian was fired up by the revolution and may have adopted excessive measures, and to forgive and move on. The Cold War has ended and bitter enemies are now partners in development throughout the world. The new NDC Government will therefore usher in a period of forgiveness, healing, reconciliation and unity.

Once again Tillman Thomas has demonstrated that it can be done. Having suffered under the People’s Revolutionary Government for standing up for the principle of freedom of expression, he has forgiven his jailors and, like Nelson Mandela, is ready to lead a Government of reconciliation and reconstruction.

Tillman Thomas is a diehard defender of good governance. His fundamental political philosophy revolves around transparency, accountability, inclusion, participation and consensus. Hs unique style of leadership is ideally suited to this kind of modern government.

After the re-opening of wounds by the NNP regime, after 12 years of autocratic rule, after countless cases of international corruption, after the erosion of the self-respect and self-reliance of ordinary Grenadians, after the politicization of every institution in Grenada, after making Grenadians increasingly dependent on handouts and makeshift jobs… this nation needs a time for healing. Only under Tillman Joseph Thomas can this country be guaranteed good governance and the opportunity for Grenada to catch root and grow strong and united again.
