Mrs. Delma Thomas, the NNP candidate for St. Andrew North West, is a very humble, easygoing, compassionate, people-oriented person. She has a strong religious background and holds on steadfastly to her moral and Christian values which are products of her upbringing.
Delma was born in Paraclete and raised in Mt. Horne, St. Andrew. She attended the Paraclete Government School; the Grenville Secondary School (GSS); the T.A Marryshow Community College, and later on, the Teacher Education Department at TAMCC. Before entering politics, she was a qualified teacher with over twelve years experience as an educator. She holds a Teacher Certificate in Primary Education from the Teacher Education Department of TAMCC and a Certificate in Teaching from the University of the West Indies, Faculty of Humanities and Education.
Delma’s decision to get into politics is rooted primarily in her love for God and her people. She harbors a wonderful vision for the socio-economic and infrastructural development of her constituency as well as a desire to see her people receive the sort of effective representation that they deserve.
She is a very creative, dynamic and industrious woman, who holds the conviction that the presence of a true representative of the people should be both seen and felt. Her personal motto is “ACTA NON VERBA” (action not words).
As caretaker for her constituency, Delma Thomas has reached out to the old, the young, the poor and underprivileged, those in need of support and assistance, as well as other groups, organizations and individuals in her constituency. Through her personal initiative, a number of projects have been undertaken in communities throughout her area – some already completed while others are still in progress. Her work has shown a high level of professionalism and reflects an unselfish determination to be there for her people and improve the quality of their lives.
Family is a major part of Delma’s life – her parents, siblings, husband and children provide her with tremendous emotional and moral support. It is against this background that she wishes to work tirelessly to restore strong family values and build stronger communities throughout her constituency. She believes that with God, all things are possible and invites you to work with her to make our vision for a better, healthier, more productive and prosperous St. Andrew’s North West a reality. |
