Elvin G. Nimrod, born August 27th, 1943, was raised on the island of Carriacou. He received his Primary Education at the Hillsborough Government School in Carriacou and later attended the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School. After graduating from the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, he taught for three years at the Mt. Pleasant Government School in Carriacou.

Mr. Nimrod later migrated to the United States of America in order to continue his pursuit of academic and professional achievement. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College, a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate in Law at the New York Law School.

After graduating from Law School, Mr. Nimrod entered into private practice and was a Senior Member of the Law Firm of Nimrod and Tucker and he practiced Law for several years in New York, specialising in Immigration and Real Estate Law. While in New Your he also served as Legal Counsel to the Grenada Mission to the United Nations, a duty, which he performed voluntarily.

Mr. Nimrod returned to Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique out of a desire to make a valuable contribution to his homeland. He attended the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad where he received his Legal Education Certificate and in 1993 Elvin was admitted to practice Law in the Supreme Court of Grenada.

He entered the political arena and became a Member of the Senate in 1997. In January 1999 he was elected as the Parliamentary Representative for the Constituency of Carriacou and Petit Martinique on a New National Party Ticket. Mr. Nimrod was duly appointed as the Minister of Legal Affairs, Labour, Local Government and Carriacou and Petit Martinique Affairs. He was given added portfolios including Minister of Foreign Affairs in August 2000 and Minister of International Trade in 2001.
