Franklin R.O. Brand is a former Speaker of the National Assembly of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Early life and edcuation
Franklin R.O. Brand was born in Nevis.
Franklin Brand is co-owner and managing director of Island Bakeries Ltd on St. Kitts and former manager of Nevis Bakery Ltd. in Charlestown, Nevis.
Before entering the private sector he served as Chief Statistician for the Nevis island Administration (NIA). He also served as Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Trade, Industry, Development and Planning for the NIA.
Brand has been involved in many community and civic activities and organizations. He was a member of both the Rotary Club of St. Kitts and St. Kitts and Nevis Social Security Board. Brand also served as President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He is also a former Director of the Foundation for National Development Enterprise Credit Union (FND-ECCU) Ltd. He is also President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Small Business Forum, a non-profit organization which he co-founded in September 2011.
Brand was elected Speaker of the National Assembly of St. Kitts and Nevis on 14 May 2015. He resigned in May of the following year due to health reasons.
Brand is married to Jacqueline Evelyn, and is the father of four children.
