Atlin Harrigan

Atlin Harrigan, OBE

Atlin Harrigan was a former Speaker of the House of Assembly of Anguilla and co-leader of the Anguilla Revolution.

Career

During the Anguilla revolution, Harrigan was the publisher of the Anguilla Beacon.

Harrigan unsuccessfully contested the 1980 election for District 1 Island Harbour on the Anguilla National Alliance (ANA) ticket, being defeated by Ronald Webster of the Anguilla United Movement (AUM).

Atlin Harrigan served as Speker of the House of Assembly of Anguilla from 1985 - 1994.

Honours

In 1992, Harrigan was awaded as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in Queen's New Year's Honours.

Death and legacy

Harrigan died in February 2005 and was accorded the first State Funeral in Anguilla.

The Atlin Harrigan Parliamentary Building is named in his honour.
