Daven ClairFoster Joseph is an Antiguan politician.

Early life and education

Daven ClairFoster Joseph was born in the eastern village Newfield, one of the first estates to be freed during Emancipation, which, perhaps, explains Daven?s free-spiritedness and service to his fellow man. He comes from a very distinguished family, the Brownes, who had given Antigua and Barbuda many outstanding citizens over the years.

In 1984, he attended the University of Rhode Island in the United States and obtained his Masters Degree in Marine Affairs.

Career

His latter training has served him in good stead in his professional life in Antigua and Barbuda and the Caribbean From 1981 to 1984, Daven put his knowledge and expertise to use as Fisheries Development officer for the country of his birth. He was mainly responsible for supervision of the Fisheries Department with responsibilities for the development of legislation and regulations relating to fisheries. He was also responsible for identifying the training needs for the industry, among other duties. In 1986, Daven was assigned to the OECS in St. Vincent as Development Officer with special responsibility for the implementation of a regional cooperation mechanism for marine resource harmonised fisheries legislation and regulations for the OECS.

Joseph unsuccessfully contested the All Saints West seat in the 2004 and 2009 elections for the Antigua Labour Party (ALP).
