Former Cabinet Minister, Barbados
Rommell Marshall is a Barbadian business executive, politician, and former Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
Rommell Delano Marshall was born on 2 November 1947 in Barbados. He was educated at Wesley Hall Boys' School and St. Leonard's Boys in Barbados.
Marshall was the Member of Parliament for St. Michael West Central for three consecutive terms from 1994 to 2008 on the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) ticket. He also served as Minister of Transport & Works in the Owen Arthur Administration.
In the 2008 general election when there was a major swing away from the BLP, Marshall was narrowly defeated by Democratic Labour Party (DLP) candidate, James Paul, by a mere 25 votes.
He tried to make a comeback in 2010, this time contesting the party’s St. James Central nomination, but lost to current constituency representative Kerrie Symmonds. This was followed by his vow to contest the St. Joseph seat as an independent candidate against then party colleague and current sitting MP Dale Marshall, but eventually backed out.
He resigned from the BLP in 2013.
Marshall is married.
