Former Governor-General's Deputy of St. Kitts and Nevis
Dennis Michael Morton is a former Governor-General's Deputy of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Morton served as Director of the TDC Corporation from 1976. In 1983, he assumed the position of Executive Director of the TDC Group of Companies, filling the vacancy left by Warren Tyson upon his death. In 2001, Morton succeeded Michael King in becoming the Chairman of the Board of the TDC Group of Companies, a position he held until his retirement from full time service of the TDC Group of Companies on 1 February 2014. Morton continues as a director of TDC in a non-executive capacity and serves as Marketing and Sales Consultant.
He also served as Deputy Chairman of The Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) for over 10years, as President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CIC) for two 2 year terms, as a director of the Cave Hill School of Business for over 10 years and on a regional advisory committee to the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
Presently Morton is the Honorary Consul-General for St. Kitts and Nevis to Turkey, Vice Chairman of the National Drug Council and Vice Chairman of the Council of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society.
Dennis Morton served as Governor-General's in October 2015 and again in March 2016 during the absence of Governor-General Seaton.
Morton is married to Cynthia “Junie” Morton. He is the father to daughter Kerryanne Amritt and son Nigel Morton
Honours and awards
In 2017, Morton was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's New Year Honours List for services to commerce and industry.
