Marcelle Pierrot

Marcelle Pierrot, born 20 December 1949 in Trois-Rivières in Guadeloupe is a French official. She has been the prefect of Guaeloupe since 23 January 2013.

Early life and education

Marcelle Pierrot was educated at Three Rivers High School and Gerville-Réache Basse-Terre. She then went to Bordeaux for studies at the Institute of Political Studies from which she graduated.

Career

She began her career in 1975 at the Ministry of the Interior and became sub-prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle Luneville between 1993 and 1995.

Chief Secretary to the sub-prefecture of the Hay-les-Roses, the second turn as chief of staff prefects of the Gers region of Limousin, Haute-Vienne and Essonne. After passing Luneville, she returned to the Ministry of Interior as deputy director of recruitment and training.

Deputy Reeve of Arles and the Somme, prefect delegated to equal opportunities to the prefect of the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, prefect of the Lot, it becomes prefect of the Tarn to finally go and Lorraine become Prefect of the Vosges.

The Council of Ministers on 23 January 2013 named Marcelle Pierrot prefect of Guadeloupe, and state representative in the communities of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. The decision was ratified by Decree 25 January 2013. She is the first woman appointed prefect of Guadeloupe. This appointment is also a first that officials of her rank are never named in their region origin.

Marcelle Pierrot appears in the 2012-2013 edition of the "Black Gotha France", which aims to "highlight models talent, excellence and meritocracy".
