Hon. Curtis Richardson
Curtis Richardson is an Anguillian politician and current member of the House of Assembly.
Early life and education
Curtis Richardson grew up in Blowing Point. He attended the Adrian T Hazell Primary School and the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School. He graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands with his degree in Mathematics. He has taught at various islands including Anguilla, Guadeloupe and St. Thomas.
Career
Richardson has worked in the public service as an educator and leader. He has experience working in the private sector, particularly in Anguilla's hospitality industry.
Richardson first contested the District 5 Road South seat in 2005 on the Anguilla Strategic Alliance (ANSA) ticket, but lost to Hubert Hughes of the Anguilla United Movement (AUM).
He was the Anguilla United Front (AUF) candidate in the 2010 elections. He was a Mathematics teacher before entering politics. He has served as a Special Assistant in the AUF Government of 2005 – 2010, bringing several community projects to District 6, especially Blowing Point.
Running on an AUF ticket In the 22 April 2015 election, Richarsdon won from a field of four in District 6 - Road South. The results were: Curtis Richardson - 640 votes (51.45%); Hadyn Hughes (AUM) - 571 votes (45.90%); Clifton Niles (DOVE) - 23 votes (1.85%); Statchel Warner (IND) - 10 votes (0.80%).
Personal life
Richardson lives in Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla. He enjoys fishing, sailing, and music.
