Patrick Simmons
Former Cabinet Minister, Grenada

Patrick Simmons is a Grenadian politician and former Cabinet Minister.

Early life and education

Simmons was born in St. Andrew, attended the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School where he worked as Games Master, Science Teacher and later Principal. He was trained as a Teacher and received higher education at the Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and the University of the West Indies. He specialized in Education and Dietetics.

Career

Simmons served as Minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports in the Tillman Thomas led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration (2008 to 2013).
Simmons unsuccessfully contested the St. Andrew South East seat for the NDC in the 2013 general election, losing to Emmalin Pierre of the New National Party (NNP).

Personal life

Simmons is married to Barbara Simmons and they have five children. He is an avid sports fan, who still enjoys the opportunity to watch or play, when given a chance. He is also interested in community development, farming, and research.
