Former Cabinet Minster, St. Kitts and Nevis
Uhral Swanston is a businessman politician and former Cabinet Minister in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Uhral Swanston is a prominent businessman and one of the surviving founders of the Nevis Reform Party Nevis (NRP). He served as the NRP representative in Government 1984 – 1995 In 1980, Uhral Swanston became a member of the historic PAM/NRP Coalition government led by Dr Sir Kennedy A Simmonds.
In 1983, when the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis attained Independence, Mr. Swanston was appointed Minister of Communications, Works, Public Utilities and Posts in the first Nevis Island Administration.
In 1984, Swantson was appointed as the Nevis Reform Party representative in Government and served as a Minister without Portfolio in the Dr. Kennedy Simmonds led PAM/NAP Administration. He was reappointed to this portfolio following the re-election of the PAM/NRP coalition in 1989 and 1993. He continued to serve as Minister until 1995.
Honours and awards
In 2010, the stretch of road from Market Shop to the end of Zion Hill in Gingerland was officially renamed the Uhral St. Clair Swanston Highway.
