Patrick Martin Tyrone Todd
Former Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Barbados
Patrick Todd is a Barbadian educator, politician, and a former Minister of State.
Early life and education
Patrick Martin Tyrone Todd Todd attended the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and achieved a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Economics and Mathematics in 1993. That same year, he enrolled at the Erdiston Teachers' Training College and completed a Theory and Practice of Lesson Planning, Classroom Management and Effective Discipline Teacher Initiation Training Course.
Prior to this, he received his formal education at Erdiston Model School, The Lodge School, Harrison College and the Barbados Community College.
Todd was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Lands in June 2011. He previously held the portfolio of Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing, Lands, Urban and Rural Development, Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Urban Development, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development and Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Empowerment, Trade, Industry and Commerce.
Prior to assuming this position, he was a Mathematics Teacher at a number of secondary schools in Barbados, including The Alleyne School, Queen's College, Parkinson Memorial Secondary and Deighton Griffith Secondary School. He has also been a Marker with the Caribbean Examinations Council, a position he held from 1995 until 2007.
From 2008 - 2013 he was Member of Parliament for the City of Bridgetown. Losing his seat in 2013, Todd was appointed a Government Senator, and Minister of State in the Freundel Stuart Administration.
Todd will be contesting the St. Michael North East seat for the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) in the 2018 general election.
He demitted office as Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister following the DLP loss in the 24 May 2018 General Election.
Todd lists his interests as athletics, reading, cricket, soccer, swimming, table tennis, dancing, corresponding and meeting people. Presently, he is a member of the Beverley Hills Football Club in New Orleans.
