General Election Results - 7 May 1974

General elections were held in Saint Lucia on 7 May 1974. The number of seats in parliament was increased by seven to 17.

A total of 39 candidates contested the election.  The Kenneth Foster led St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) presented 16 candidates, while the United Workers Party (UWP) led by John Compton presented 17 candidates.  There were six independents. 

The result was a victory for the United Workers Party, which won 10 of the 17 seats. Voter turnout was 84.1%.
