Throughout the Caribbean women are actively involved in politics from the organisation level to serving in parliament, with several presiding officers being women. In recent years Antigua and Barbuda named its first female Governmor General, and Haiti elected its first female Prime Minister.

Governor-General Hon. Dr. Dame C. Pearlette Louisy, St. Lucia (1997 -)

Dame Calliopa Pearlette Louisy GCMG (born 8 June 1946) is the Governor-General of Saint Lucia. She is the first woman to hold this office, which she was sworn into on 19 September 1997.

Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack, Antigua and Barbuda (2007 -)

A former nurse and magistrate from 1995. (b. 1944-).

Prime Minister Michèle Pierre-Louis, Haiti (2008 - )

The third nominee by president Preval since March, has been Executive Director of the Foundation of Knowledge and Liberty since 1995. (b. 1947-).
