Burton Williams was born in St. Vincent. He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School & Mountain View Academy followed by the College of Business Studies in St. Lucia, the West Indies College in Jamaica and the University of Warwick in England. He has a B.Sc. in Business Administration and a Diploma in Business Administration and a Certificate in Book-keeping & Accounts.

Burton has worked as a Lecturer, an Accountant, a Teacher and a Minister of Government. He is married and has 7 children.
