Elvis Denvil Seymour Daniel is a son of North Windward who has lived his life as a member of the Mt. Bentnick/ Langley Park Community. He was educated at the Langley Park Infant and Georgetown Government Schools before entering St. Vincent Grammar School as a Government Scholar. After completing secondary school he attended the Teachers College and became a qualified Assistant Teacher. Having shown exemplary discipline and studious application, he was appointed to the North Union secondary school where he taught for 17 years.
Not satisfied that his academic journey was over, Elvis attended the University of the West Indies Cave Hill on a scholarship from the British Development Division and in 1996 he graduated with a first class honours degree BSc. in Mathematics. In recognition of his ability he was awarded yet another scholarship to further his studies in Mathematics and in 2003 he graduated with a Maters of Philosophy Degree in Mathematics specializing in Statistics from UWI Cave Hill.
Keen to resume his teaching career, Elvis returned to St. Vincent where he was duly appointed as head of the Mathematics Department and Acting Deputy Principal at the Georgetown Secondary School. In September 2003 he returned to the North Union Secondary, then to the Adelphi Secondary School and subsequently became a lecturer at the St. Vincent Teacher’s College. Throughout his academic life Elvis has always managed to give back to his community, be it through social work or religious activity. This former PESCO and LUTON footballer has taught at the Langley Park Evening Classes since its inception in 1985 until today. His specialized skills in Mathematics have benefitted thousands of children and adults at both the Common Entrance and CXC Levels. His work with the church has spanned 27 years. He has a wife Valda and two daughters Arisha and Azel. |
