Vynnette “Vynnie V” Frederick is the youngest member of the NDP Executive, and sole Female candidate in the upcoming elections for the New Democratic Party. Vynnette has been involved in politics since she was eligible to vote. She is described as a renaissance woman whose celebrity spreads across the Eastern Caribbean.

Vynnette is the youngest of seven. She was educated at the Kingstown Preparatory School, the Girls’ High School and the St. Vincent Grammar School. At school she distinguished herself as an all rounder and an exceptional Girl Guide and was also awarded Gold in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (Now the International Award for Young People.) At the age of 14 Vynnette won the prestigious Jaycees Public Speaking Competition and in her final year of school she received the Governor General’s Award for excellence in English.

Throughout her teen years, Vynnette became involved in music, participating in Music Festivals and appearing as a dancehall and rap artist on stage throughout the country. After graduating from Grammar School, Vynnette was invited back to teach as a non-graduate teacher. She taught English Literature, Language and Caribbean History for three years. During this time she also appeared as a VJ on the popular Guinness Power Jamz Programme.

Vynnette studied Law at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill. She was Vice President of the Guild and sat on various boards with distinguished leading University officials, representing the views of the students on youth related issues. She also played football for the Combined Territories and was Captain for the University of the West Indies Cave Hill teams in her final year.

After Graduation Vynnette returned to St. Vincent to work in a law practice, distinguishing herself as a fearless courtroom advocate. She is an avid reader and published poet and rose to regional fame in 2004 as one of the “thrillogy” (three judges on the regional equivalent of American Idol Digicel Rising Stars). Described as the Caribbean’s Simon Cowell, Vynnette’s opinion is one of those most anticipated on the programme.

While running a thriving law practice, Vynnette has also functioned as the youngest PRO, successfully managing the Public Relations Portfolio and lending assistance to the Young Democrats for the New Democratic Party. She has worked tirelessly in areas of cultural and intellectual property development as part of the organization ‘Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights’. Vynnette has also worked as a motivational speaker with local and regional youth. She is well rounded and energetic with a can do attitude.
