Maxwell Adolphus "Maxie" Charles is a teacher, principal, husband, father and devoted Christian. Growing up in St. Vincent, he was educated at Layou Government and the Hope Methodist School followed Boys Grammar where he graduated in 1972. He attended St. Vincent Teacher's College and went on to receive a Bachelor Ed (Hons) Degree from UWI Mona. He later completed a post graduate diploma in Management from the University of Technology (Jamaica).

Upon completing his degrees, Mr. Charles returned to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and began a career in education.

Starting as a teacher, he served students at the Questelles Government School, Buccament Government School, Barrouallie Anglican School and Barrouallie Secondary School. He rose up through the education field and became the first Principal at the Buccament Bay Secondary School.

After serving as an educator for 35 years, he was transferred on promotion to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade in 2007 where he worked as Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom until 2010.

As a diplomat he served with distinction in the United Kingdom. He represented the interests of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at international bodies such as the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth Foundation and the International Maritime Organisation. During the UK/Caribbean Forum in 2008 in London, he spoke on behalf of the Caribbean at one of the sessions.

Mr. Charles is active in the community. He served on Disaster Preparedness Committees in Layou and Buccament Bay and as President of the Barrouallie Credit Union in 2006 until he left for his assignment in London in 2007.

He is now presenting himself as the Unity Labour Party (ULP) Candidate for Central Leeward for the next general elections. He is a servant of the people and will be offering high quality representation.
Mr. is married to Doris Charles nee Williams of Vermont. He is the father of two sons Mikhail and Chevanev aged 22 and 18.

He is a devout Seventh Day Adventist and has served his church in several capacities.
